My favorite holiday cookie!

Peanut Blossoms

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter, creamy
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 48 Hershey's Kisses
  • additional sugar for dusting


Preheat oven to 375°.
Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
In a large bowl cream together shortening and sugars until pale. Add peanut butter, egg, and vanilla and mix well.
Add dry mixture in three rounds, mixing well with each round.
Using a teaspoon make balls of dough, round into balls and roll in sugar.
Place on cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Immediately press a kiss into the center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheets to cooling rack.

Grab the milk!
